I trode on as the night wore on,
Memories swinging in my head,
The times we spent and the things we shared,
All gone like sand moving away in the air…
The darkness was engulfing, but still welcoming,
Keeping me company as I trode wearily,
For now, there is none but me,
Gliding wearily through glooms of misery.
The best and worst moments run by me,
When we laughed and cried, and were happy and sad,
The trees shrouded my heart’s bitterness,
For the one I cared left me nonetheless.
To relive is to endear, to trust is to folly,
As every phoenix that rose from ashes,
I too made the choice to forge independently,
Into sunshine and mirth and glory…
